Hi all, had a special order yesterday for some crosscut slabs. These are a pain in the butt. Thery are hard to get clamped good enough for my likings. I sawed these at 12/4 and they are 24"W. He also wanted the 2' butt log. 8)

The customer is a 5th grade school teacher. He wants to take one to school for the kids to study. Growth rings, good years, bad years ect. 8)

Wow. I'd love to have a mill like that. I have an old burled tree on my property that I'd love to cut up before it rots out. Do you have to put a different blade to cut that way?

:D Hi Gary, I didn't use a different blade but it would probably work better with a blade with more set in the blades and a more aggressive hook angle on them as well. I don't do alot of this so I'll just do it this way for now. :lol: 8)

That's the way I am. I was unsuccessfully trying to split some elm firewood a few months ago and finally gave up and went after it with my chainsaw. I've heard they make chains just for ripping, but it was fun making a mountain of noodles! :lol:
