Hello
Just wanted to introduce myself my name is Wade.
I have a LL-24 Ive had it about a year , it dont have alot of hrs on it yet .
All the reasons I bought it for fell apart, so it kinda just set doing nothing
But Im starting to cut cedar and build things with the lumber now that I have more time (layed off)
I really like this forum and will more than likely have some questions .
Wade

Welcome, I've got friends in that area--Goodman and Joplin--- so i know the area a little bit. Come on in, set right down and ask away. If we don't know we'll lie creatively. Ken

Hello again
Thank you all for the welcome .
I really like the LL-24 but i dont have much to compare it to I had a homemade chainsaw mill before this so its loads better , Ive not had any problems at all with it ,starts first pull runs great , bands seem to last awhile although I use cooks super sharp bands.
Its for sure an all manual mill we load it by hand but am going to start workin on an old IH Scout to put some kind of lift on and to use to skid logs too.
I took some pics today so I thought Id try to post some.

:D Hey Wade, it looks to me like you got it going on!! Good looking rig. I am so tickled you posted pix, we have a tendency to call folks out that just have stories. We're all guilty of post's with no pix, but we've all learned that some here will ride you about no pix. I say, "if ya aint got no pix,......it never happened" 8) Just kidding, but we do ALL like the pix to go with the story. Are you sawing for yourself or are you cutting for others now?? Fill us in 8)

Hello
Thanks
I still got a lot of work to do on it I need to build a log loader and it could use another log clamp but it cuts better than i thought it would.
Right now i just saw for myself mostly cedar , I do have someone who wants me to saw for them on halfs or they said they would pay .30 a bdf its all oak that went down in a big wind storm we had .
I went yesterday and got the IH scout out of the weeds and starting to get it running so I can put the crane on it it will be one from HF but it will make it a lot nicer on the back.
LOL
I will try to get some pics of the chairs I been making and post them .
I understand abut the pics stories with out pics kinda like listening to the wind blow Ive heard it all before. JK lol
I want to build a cabin on my place out of cedar just havent got there yet.
A friend of mine has a bunch of it he wants cut and I get all the logs just for cutting them so that sounds like a good deal to me.

That's an interesting set up you have there. Great use of a trailer to make it portable.
Is it bolted down to the trailer? Have you traveled with it yet?
Definitely need a better way to load the "big" logs.
Thanks for the pics.

Thanks Harry
I used a trailer I had from a camper we tore down it was a tandem axle and a lot longer before i put the mill on it .
Yes its bolted down I used 10.5 inch carrage bolts 20 of them , used 4 at each crossmember with a piece of flat steel on the bottom.
Did the rachet straps on the front look off to ya?
Those are on there to pull down the front of the wood bed as it warped last year when the mill was just sitting so to get the track back to where it needed to be i had to pull it down and no crossmember in that spot so till I get one welded in they keep it down.
Looks kinda screwy huh ?
I havent takin it out on the highway yet but moved it around here alot with no problems.

Sorry I didnt get to the chair pics today maybe tomarrow.

Amazing how the wood warped enough to throw off the alignment.
What wood are you using on the base? Looks like a 4 x 10 too.
Would it make a difference if it was quarter sawn?

Hello
Heres a pic of the mill when i first set it up and it stayed like this for about a year.

Image

The wood its on is doubled 2x6 with a 2x4 on edge all the way along both sides This is how norwood shows to build it.
I would like to build a new track later.
Will try to get chair pics on later this evening.
